1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Owanly ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

Owanly is operated by Owanly ("we," "us," or "our").

2. Description of Service

Owanly is a language learning platform dedicated to preserving and teaching the Owan language. Our services include:

  • Vocabulary lessons and quizzes
  • Cultural content about the Owan people
  • Community dictionary contributions
  • Gamified learning experiences
  • Name meanings and cultural information

3. User Accounts

To access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Users under 18 require parental consent.

4. User Content & Contributions

When you contribute to our Community Dictionary or submit content, you:

  • Retain ownership of your original content
  • Grant Owanly a worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your contributions
  • Confirm your contributions are accurate to the best of your knowledge
  • Agree not to submit false, misleading, or harmful content

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms or is deemed inappropriate.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Submit false or misleading language data
  • Attempt to hack, disrupt, or damage the App
  • Use automated systems to access the App
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Sell or transfer your account
  • Use the App to spread hate speech or discrimination

6. Intellectual Property

The Owanly name, logo, design, and original content are owned by Owanly and protected by intellectual property laws.

The Owan language, cultural knowledge, and traditional content belong to the Owan people and their communities. Owanly serves as a custodian to help preserve and share this heritage.

You may not copy, modify, or distribute our proprietary content without written permission.

7. Free Services

Owanly offers free features.

Free Features

Core learning features will remain free forever. We believe no one should be priced out of their heritage.

8. Virtual Currency (Cowries)

Cowries are virtual currency earned through learning.

  • Cowries have no real-world monetary value
  • Cowries cannot be exchanged for cash
  • Cowries are non-transferable between accounts
  • We may adjust cowrie values or rewards at any time
  • Unused cowries expire if account is inactive for 12 months

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:

  • The App will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • All language content is 100% accurate
  • The App will meet your specific requirements

Language content is contributed by community members and may contain variations or errors. We encourage users to report inaccuracies.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Owanly shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms of Service
  • Engage in fraudulent activity
  • Harm other users or the community
  • Submit intentionally false language data

You may delete your account at any time through the App settings.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Edo State, Nigeria.

By using Owanly, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
